100 days of horror! Help raise funds for displaced families and animals in Gaza.
As of today’s count, the ongoing bombing of Gaza has taken the lives of nearly 23,000 people. All the horrors have not spared the animals of Gaza, many of whom have lost limbs, homes, and lifelong guardians.
While the situation is already tragic for Palestinians, animals in the region are also facing dire circumstances. The sole animal rescue organization operating in Gaza is Sulala Animal Rescue, founded and run by Saeed al-Erry, a Palestinian man, and his son Sa'ed. Currently, Sulala Animal Rescue cares for 120 cats and 30 dogs, with only two bags of food available to sustain them all.
Since the war started on October 7th, the Israeli government has prohibited the delivery of animal food into Gaza for over 90 days. Sulala Animal Rescue is left with just a couple of bags of food to feed their animals, making the situation incredibly critical.
Previously, Sulala urged supporters to contact Israeli and American officials to resume the delivery of animal food. However, they are now advising supporters to await potential food shipments. Additionally, they emphasize the importance of maintaining "respectful and courteous" communication with government officials, as angry and inflammatory language could hinder their efforts to provide food and aid to animals in Gaza.
The surviving animals in Gaza are currently malnourished and starving, with no viable recourse. With no apparent assistance from the Israeli or American governments. This falls upon conscientious individuals worldwide to intervene and aid in this crisis.
Several international animal rights organizations are rallying to raise funds and awareness for Sulala Animal Rescue and the needs of Gaza's animals. Donations can be made directly to Sulala via PayPal at https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/HelpStreetAnimal.
Vegans in Palestine and animal rescuers from the Baladi Animal Rescue launched a food package distribution campaign in November, assisting 77 displaced households in central and southern Gaza. Donations are being received and distributed to reliable local partners despite the Israeli supply restriction. These partners will get food products, notably vegetables grown in Gaza, and give them to displaced families in schools and camps. To guarantee appropriate delivery, a comprehensive list of families with identification numbers and phone contacts will be kept, while respecting privacy by not publishing photographs and instead showing receipts and images of the purchase and packaging procedure.
Donations for plant-based food parcels for 1500 families in Gaza can be made at Vegan For Gaza at the following link: Vegan For Gaza | 4fund.com
It is a sincere hope that aid reaches the animals affected by human actions, and a plea is extended to more animal rights organizations to answer the call and assist both the people and animals of Gaza. Nothing less than our collective support is deserved in this challenging time.
