Farah Amber is a vegan and animal advocate who shares her journey and experiences on her YouTube channel and social media platforms. She has been a vegan for three years and is passionate about animal rights and veganism. In her videos, she discusses her vegan journey, shares vegan recipes, and provides tips on following a vegan lifestyle. She also hosts a podcast where she talks about all things vegan, including tips, advice, education, and more for vegans and aspiring vegans.

Can you tell us briefly about your journey to becoming vegan?

My vegan journey began in August 2020, during the pandemic. I was living with my brother, who had been vegan for a year at that point. We often had plant-based family dinners, leading to my "accidental" shift to a plant-based diet. I vividly remember feeling nauseous after consuming a dairy-heavy dish, prompting me to decide that I never wanted to experience that discomfort again. Thus, I turned to a plant-based diet for health reasons.

Following this transition, I delved into various online vegan communities, becoming more informed about the realities of animal agriculture. Witnessing the harsh truths about the industry solidified my commitment, understanding that no taste could justify the suffering these animals endure for our consumption.

What motivated you to become a vegan educator and animal rights advocate? What drives your passion for promoting a compassionate lifestyle?

My motivation to become a vegan educator stem from realizing the lack of information available to consumers about animal products and the treatment of animals. Prior to my journey, I was not adequately informed. I aim to be that source of information for others, sowing the seed of awareness about a more compassionate way of living that doesn't require the consumption of animal products.

Tell us about your podcast, "Changemakers." What kind of content do you feature, and what impact do you hope it has on listeners?

"Changemakers" aims to provide a platform for global influencers and animal advocates working towards a more compassionate and sustainable world. Through the podcast, I hope listeners gain insights, inspiration, and information from these important voices, whether it's advice or new facts about various industries. I love podcasting and look forward to recording more episodes with inspiring changemakers.

What are your thoughts on the importance of inclusivity and diversity within the vegan movement? How can we ensure that the movement is welcoming and accessible to all?

Inclusivity and diversity are crucial for the vegan movement. A diverse movement opens up conversations across different cultures and religions, fostering a sense of inclusion. Demonstrating that people from various backgrounds embrace a plant-based diet normalizes it and makes it more accessible to a wider audience.

What role do you see collaboration playing in advancing the vegan movement? Share any experiences or insights from your collaborations with Generation Vegan, Unchained TV, and The Save Movement.

Collaboration is key to strengthening the vegan movement. Working with platforms and organizations allows us to pool resources and amplify our message. I believe that infighting within the vegan community is counterproductive; we share a common goal of helping animals.

What was the most inspiring or impactful moment you experienced at the Asia Farm Animal Day conference?

The most inspiring moment at the Asia Farm Animal Day conference was meeting Leah Garces, the president of Mercy for Animals. She's my inspiration, and I aspire to create lasting, meaningful change for animals, much like her.

What message would you like to give to aspiring animal advocates in Asia?

I want to encourage and empower aspiring animal advocates by emphasizing the significance of their role in Asia. Currently, half of the world’s animals killed for food are slaughtered in Asia. This underscores the urgency of our voices to drive change toward a kinder and more sustainable future in the region. 🌱

As we wrap up this enlightening interview with Farah, her journey from an inadvertent plant-based lifestyle to becoming an avid vegan educator resonates as a testament to the transformative power of awareness. We invite you to delve into her impactful content on her YouTube channel and her "Changemakers" podcast, where she elevates the voices shaping a more compassionate and sustainable world. By emphasizing collaboration, inclusivity, and diversity within the vegan movement, Farah leaves us with a powerful message. To aspiring animal advocates in Asia, she underscores the urgency of their voices in a region where a significant portion of the world's animals are slaughtered for food. We extend our gratitude to Farah for sharing her insights, and we eagerly anticipate the ongoing positive impact she continues to make in the realms of veganism and animal advocacy.
