KSA's first vegan restaurant founder, Abeer Almutlaq

Saudi Arabia's first vegan restaurant, Wabi Sabi, is run by Abeer Almutlaq, a scientist who believes food should be scientific and mindful.

The food and beverage industry benefits from Almutlaq's expertise in real estate and business transformation. With the country's first vegan restaurant, Almutlaq has made a bold statement for the Kingdom. She also serves as the director of human resources and administration at Almutlaq Real Estate Investment Co. She directs, oversees, and coordinates human resource activities by efficiently implementing operational HR processes. Among the responsibilities of the position are employment, compensation, labor relations, benefits, training, employee services, appraisal systems, succession planning, and annual training.

Besides studying psychology at the American University of Paris, she is also a yoga instructor, life coach, and nutritionist. Additionally, she is certified in hypnotherapy and the International Nutrition Network.

Ayurveda, an ancient medical healing modality inspired Almutlaq and helped her understand the power of food and the connection between mind and body. This experience led her to launch Wabi Sabi in the Kingdom. In September 2022, two new branches opened in Sharjah and Mirdif, expanding their presence in the UAE.

A wellness center, a restaurant, and a retail outlet are part of Wabi Sabi's offerings. In its retail arm, Boutique, the company sells nutritional supplements, jewelry, clothing, and beauty treatments. These are featured in small ethical brands such as Alo Yoga, 001 Skincare London, Organic Olivia, and Beauty Bites.
